3 Global Developments That Pave The Way For A Greener Future

October 1st, 2020

There is a great sense of urgency and a push for sustainable methods and innovative technologies to build for a greener future. Globally we have reached a critical point with regards to climate change, and across sectors much is being done to address the issues of energy, carbon emissions, waste and natural resources. Environmental, social, and economic change is increasingly at the forefront of everything we do.

We have chosen our favourite 3 projects to watch for that address these areas of change and will shape the way of the future. These are examples that inspire us to build our spaces for tomorrow.

  1. 1000 Trees Shanghai – Designed by Heatherwick Studio this project is seen as a piece of topography. Taking the form of 2 tree covered mountains, 1000 trees is populated by hundreds of structural columns there are large planters each holding clusters of trees. This initiate will help combat the air pollution and clean air initiatives by producing oxygen and drawing in carbon dioxide and air pollution making it a healthy environment for occupants.
  2. Smart Forest City in Cancun – Designed by Italian architect Stefano Boeri, this smart forest is intended to be built on 557 hectares and will contain 7.5 million plants. It is set to be a a “pioneer” of more eco-efficient developments and a green print to build more cities like this around the world.
  3. Multimodal Ülemiste train terminal in Tallinn Estonia – this is a sustainable and pedestrian-friendly modular development which will form part of the Rail Baltica high-speed rail network. The design will integrate skylights, natural ventilation, and roof-mounted solar panels to minimise the station’s energy usage.

At Chiodo Corporation, we create built experiences that show a connection to life, balance, and thoughtful broader impacts. Chiodo Corporation embraces a new way forward in the global property industry by integrating the unique environmental, social and economic principles of each development and cultural region. We recognise the changing landscape of property development acknowledging the environmental issues we are facing and looks ahead to the conscious living movement to design spaces that are adaptable and built on the principles of sustainable building practices, integrating with the natural surrounds, being technologically advanced and supporting local communities.

We are uniquely positioned with a working model that has Property Development, Capital Funds and Investment teams that can provide end to end solutions by working with industry professionals in the global landscape from procurement, design and implementation processes for any sized development. We are excited about being a part of new projects and global initiatives that will pave the way for a new world.
